Dracula velutina is a species of orchid native to Columbia. It grows at elevations 1000-1300m. Cool growing.
Flower color: white with pink accents.
Culture of Dracula orchids.
Orchids in the Dracula genus are mostly cool to cold growing, meaning their preferred temperature range is within 10-25ºC on average. While they can withstand warmer temperatures around 30ºC, it is not good for them for long periods. Humidity levels should be a minimum 60%. These are low light orchids and should never be exposed to direct sun. Their roots should never dry out, the potting mix needs to stay moist at all times. They are also sensitive to salt content in the water, thus fertilizing should be done at diluted concentrations (25% recommended dose). Never water them with hard tap water. RO water or rain water are ideal. You can use tap water as long as mineral content in it is low.
Most of Dracula species send out flower spikes from below the substrate level, and thus they are best grown in net or wire basket containers which are open to the sides.
